Where
am I?
evtechs.rugby-sidestep-central.com
This is the "EvtecHs" membership section of
www.rugby-sidestep-central.com.
What is
the objective of this site?
To
enable you to use
EvtecHs and become a member of a happy and supportive
brotherhood/sisterhood (a bristerhood?) of knowledgeable, skilled
sidestep enthusiasts around the world. People who know how exciting
rugby can be and are prepared to develop their own skills and encourage
other people to do the same. You and I will benefit in the short term
and maybe rugby will benefit in the longer term.
What
is EvtecHs?
EvtecHs
is the name given to a set of "Evasion TecHniques" as specified on this
site by Peter Dawson the man behind www.rugby-sidestep-central.com and
EvtecHs Sports Training. EvtecHs is a Registered Trade Mark.

What are
"Evasion TecHniques"?
As
you may know, in Rugby Union, Rugby League, NFL and similar sports you
are highly skilled and highly valued when you disrupt defences and get
past opponents using clever, unusual footwork and deceptive body
language. Generally speaking, these are evasion techniques.
Is that
what people call a sidestep?
Yes,
and like "evasion technique", "sidestep" is a very broad term. Actions
described as sidesteps are very much in the eye of the beholder, often
a commentator trying to say something positive. Record rugby games you
watch. Replay bits described as "sidesteps" or "steps" and don't be surprised if
you fail to see much out of the ordinary!
What is
the difference between a sidestep and EvtecHs?
Good
question. "Sidestep" is a very general term. It means vastly different
things to different people. "EvtecHs" is a very specific, clearly
defined set of evasion tecHniques. In the future, when you get together
with other EvtecHs enthusiasts, you will be able to mention an EvtecHs
technique by name and be confident everyone knows exactly what is being
discussed.
Does
it matter that "sidestep" is a very general term?
Yes!
It helps in most situations to be clear about what is being discussed.
For example...Two people at the pool tell you they can "dive". Using
only that information you ask one of them to teach you to dive. Did you
ask the right one? It turns out that to one, "dive" meant belly-flop
from the pool-side, to the other "dive" meant a triple back somersault
with pike. Big difference! You probably know already...it`s
the
same with sidesteps.
Membership
is mentioned. Is membership free?
There
ia a great deal of free information about evasion in the main section
of the website. In this section the Sample Session is
free. Higher levels are available after paying a membership fee for
that level.
What is the Sample Session?
The Sample Session is free and open to all. It allows you to experience the first steps in learning
EvtecHs. In effect it is the same as the very beginning of Silver.
You
may become a Silver Membership at any time. Full information will be
given at each level so you can decide if you want to stay at that level
or take your skills to the next level.
Why
do I pay for membership?
We believe we are providing a rare and valuable rugby resource. As a fair
minded person, you would appreciate that providing this resource
requires provision of Intellectual Property and investment of a great
deal of time, money and effort. The membership fees help to cover these
costs and enable us to continue providing this resource.
Put another way, please help me pay my bills!
Membership is a very modest investment for a lifetime of enjoyment and satisfaction.
Please do what is right and fair and encourage others to invest in their own future.
Why comment and rate your experience on the site?
We
are always aiming to improve. You may help us do that with your
comments about the quality of what we do now or suggestions for
additional features.
Also, as you may know, members ratings
and
comments can be viewed by people on this site who are still deciding
that becoming a member is a good idea. To protect the privacy of
members, ratings and comments are identified only by membership level
and country. You may if you wish include your name or initials when you
comment.
